There are currently 9,931 patents on file for Jigsaws worldwide.
That is a lot of jigsaws to sift through when trying to decide which jigsaw is the right one to purchase. And cordless tools have such a bad reputation for pooping out halfway through the project.
You work hard for your money and so do we. Nobody wants to waste their money on some piece of garbage they will have to wait two hours to use in between every couple of cuts.
Fortunately, we have found the solution to the problem! Read on to see how the Milwaukee M12 Jigsaw is the perfect tool for every handyman’s collection.
Milwaukee Tool
For 94 years Milwaukee Tool has been an industry pioneer. They consistently deliver new innovations in durability and power.
The introduction of the Milwaukee M12 Jigsaw is no exception to their superior engineering. The tiny package has a spectacular punch that will take the most experienced expert by surprise.
Who Uses the Milwaukee Cordless Jigsaw?
The Milwaukee cordless jigsaw is an insanely versatile tool.
It is perfect for the Do-It-Yourself-ing Weekend Warrior, the hobbyist or the 24-7 on-call contractor. Plumbers will find it endlessly useful, as will carpenters and demolition experts.
The compact tool can fit easily into cramped quarters like cabinets and under the kitchen sink. It is powerful enough for big jobs and precise enough for detail work.
Milwaukee designed this Jigsaw for professionals, but it is easy that even a beginner could use it without much difficulty.
It truly is an Every-Man Tool.
The Grip
There are two standard types of grips for a Jigsaw. The barrel grip and the top handle grip.
A jigsaw with a barrel grip has a barrel-like grip that juts horizontally out the side of the motor head and cutting area. The top handle grip jigsaws have a grip that sits on top of the cutting area. The best way to know which one will work for you is to pick one up.
It’s a feel-right thing.
The M12 Jigsaw takes the grip question out of the equation entirely. By combining the best of both worlds, Milwaukee created a new innovative grip they call the Hybrid GripTM.
The Hybrid GripTM technology gives the Milwaukee cordless jigsaw impressive control and makes it easy for anyone to use.
The Battery Supply
The Red-Lithium Battery pack is the battery used in all M12 Milwaukee tools. This makes it easy to use one battery across multiple tools.
The power and longevity this battery pack supplies is brilliant. It provides plenty of time before the charge wears down to complete almost any task.
The Design
The Milwaukee Cordless Jigsaw is deceptively versatile. The tiny package is capable of cutting through a wide range of mediums from hardwood to plywood. The most important thing to remember is to use the right Milwaukee jigsaw blade for the job; M12 will do the rest.
This is a dense piece of machinery. Do not let it’s compact, featherweight dimensions fool you. Despite it weighing only 3.8 pounds and being 8.75 long, the M12 Cordless High-Performance Jig Saw packs a powerful punch.
Sturdy enough to power through thick materials, but with enough control to glide through curves in thinner sheet stock.

The Counterbalanced Mechanism
There is a fully counterbalanced mechanism and the weight of the Milwaukee M12 Jigsaw is primarily centered over the cutting area. This innovation mitigates vibration to promote smooth cutting.
The Footplate
The footplate has a mar-less surface to prevent damage to projects and it can be easily removed and replaced.
The Variable Speed Trigger
The variable speed trigger is incredibly easy to get to. The setup is similar to that of a drill so the trigger is easy and natural to use. To change the speed all you have to do is change the pressure of your finger on the button.
Tool-free Adjustments
Tool-free adjustments make this Milwaukee Jigsaw quick and easy to use. The T-Shank blade has a tang that will fit into the keyless blade clamp without having to use tools. You can also change the bevel on the M12 without the use of tools.
Stroke Length and Strokes per Minute (SPM)
Stroke length is the measurement of how far the blade moves when it makes a cut. The more distance the blade travels, the faster the blade cuts per cycle.
The stroke length of a jigsaw can range from 3/4″(18mm) up to 1″ (26mm). The M12 Cordless ranks at the low end of that spectrum with a 3/4″ stroke length.
The lack of stroke length is made up for a bit with a fairly decent stroke rate.
Stroke rate is fairly straightforward. It is the number of strokes per minute (spm). The top speed of a jigsaw typically ranges from 500 to 3500 spm. The streamlined M12 boasts a top speed of 2,800 spm.

Additional features include an LED light to guide light up dark workspaces and a fuel gauge that indicates how much time is left before the 12-volt battery needs to be recharged.

Final Verdict
All in all, the M12 jigsaw is a top-notch power tool. The saw could be made even better if the air blown out by the motor was diverted to blow the dust away from the cutting area.
The saw speed could also stand to be a little faster. The higher spm makes up for the short stroke length, but a little improvement in that area could have made a lot of difference.
Still, the positives far outweigh the negatives in favor of the Milwaukee jigsaw, especially with the inclusion of the five-year warranty. There really is no reason why this shouldn’t be your next big purchase.
